TVS Racing has announced the final list of riders that will compete in the TVS Ladies One Make Series 2018. A total of 17 women riders across India were chosen after undergoing two rounds of selection rounds, consisting of best lap times, physical fitness and racing abilities.
Commenting on the occasion, B Selvaraj, the team manager of TVS Racing said, “We introduced an all-women racing academy in 2016 with a focus on training and equipping talented women racers to enter the mainstream racing arena.”
“With each passing year, I am delighted to see the increasing number of participants for the training and selection process – which is a testimony to our effort of creating a democratic space for motorsports in India. The 2018 team looks promising and I am confident that the rigour and spirit, which they brought to the selection rounds will translate into superior performance on the race track,” he added.
The initial round of selection took place in Mumbai, which saw 38 entries and Bangalore, with 37 entries. The final round saw 40 riders battle it out at the Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT) in Chennai onboard TVS’ Apache RTR 200 4V.
The 17 riders who made the final list will compete in this year's TVS Ladies One Make Series, which consists of five races that will be held as a support class in the two-wheeler National Racing Championship which begins in June 2018. The racers will also undergo training segments under the tutelage of TVS Racing champion riders.
