BMW India has launched the new Z4 roadster in India with prices starting from 64.90 lakh for the sDrive20 variant, 67 lakh for the sDrive20i M sport variant and 78.90 lakh for the top spec M40i variant. BMW listed the Z4 roadster on their Indian website some days back and had also started taking bookings for the same. The sixth-generation Z4 roadster will be available as a CBU at all BMW dealerships in India. The roadster will be available with a choice of two engines. Pick the sDrive20i, and you get to choose between two varaints: Sport Line and M sport. However, the bigger motor is only available with the M40i variant.
Powering the top spec M40i variant of the new roadster will be a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine making 340PS of power and 500Nm of torque.The sDrive20i, though, gets a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder unit that is good for 197PS and 320Nm. Both these engines will be mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox. 0-100 kmph comes up in a blistering 4.5 secs for the M40i variant, with a top speed of 250 kmph. The sDrive20i variant, on the other hand, hits the 100 kmph mark in 6.6 secs and has a top whack of 240kmph.
The M Sport Package comes with M Aerodynamics Package, M exterior badging, elements in BMW Individual Black High- Gloss Shadow Line finish, door sill finishers with M designation and M leather steering. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster replaces the conventional gauges and a 10.3-inch multimedia display sits on the foremost part of the dashboard. Other features on offer include adaptive LED headlamps, electrically adjustable front seats, two zone-climate control, ambient lighting, a Harman Kardon sound system and BMW heads-up display. Auto start-stop, ECO PRO mode, Brake-Energy Regeneration, 50:50 weight distribution and lightweight construction are the other innovative technologies that is also available with the Z4 roadster.
BMW Z4 M40i roadster gets Adaptive M Sport suspension, M Sport brakes and M Sport differential as standard, which will improve the car’s dynamic capabilities even further. Safety features include front and side airbags for the driver and passenger, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist , and Dynamic Stability Control along with collision and pedestrian warning with emergency braking, lane departure warning, and hands free parking.
The sixth generation BMW Z4 roadster has been priced very competitively in India, undercutting its rivals, the Mercedes-Benz SLC and Porsche 718 Boxster, which are priced at Rs 82.85 lakh and Rs 89.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively.
