  • Feature list is identical to the Alpha variant.

Hot on the heels of the updated Baleno, Maruti Suzuki has listed the updated Baleno RS on the Nexa website. The updated version is priced at Rs 8.76 lakh (ex-showroom), a bump up of Rs 23,000 compared to the outgoing model. Compared to the top-spec Alpha petrol, the RS variant is Rs 1.31 lakh dearer.

Unlike the old version that featured the same front bumper as the regular Baleno, albeit with a front splitter, the updated version gets a completely new bumper. The airdam is wider, and so are the faux air vents that surround the foglamps. Honeycomb detailing on the grille and the bumper complete the update. We don’t have a glimpse of the rear end just yet. But, we’re expecting a small nip and tuck there as well.

As far as updates are concerned, the Baleno RS gets everything that the 2019 Baleno Alpha sports. This means there are new machine-finished alloy wheels, LED projector headlamps (instead of bi-xenons on the older RS) and a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Since it’s based on the top-spec Alpha variant, features such as automatic climate control, auto-dimming IRVM, and automatic headlamps are on offer too.

Expectedly, there are no mechanical changes. The Baleno RS continues to be powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol motor that makes 102PS of power and 150Nm of torque. This sprightly motor is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Compared to the standard car, the RS additionally gets rear disc brakes.

The Baleno RS takes on the likes of the Polo GT TSi, Fiat Abarth Punto and the Tata Tiago JTP.
