The tenth-gen Camry looks better gets more features and is more affordable too!
Toyota has launched the all-new Camry in India with an introductory price of Rs 36.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India). While the new Camry has taken quite a few steps ahead in terms of its looks and features, it is around Rs 27,000 more affordable than the older model. Another big change is that the new Camry is only available with a hybrid powertrain this time around. Yes, there’ll be no petrol-only option on sale, at least in the near future. The new Camry’s hybrid system has been updated to produce more power and deliver better efficiency than before. Here's all you need to know about the all-new Toyota Camry.
Exteriors
The tenth-gen Camry is based on the TNGA-K platform that also underpins the Lexus ES 300 h. This new platform makes the Camry 35mm longer, 15mm wider and 35mm lower than before.
Another advantage of this platform is the 50mm increase in wheelbase as it helps open up more space for passengers on the inside.
The wide grille is part of Toyota's 'Keen Look' design philosophy and gives the Camry an unmistakable face. The headlamps now consist of LED projector units and also get three strips of LED DRLs.
It also gets new, 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels while the roof blends into the boot in a more coupe-like fashion.
At the rear, the new Camry gets LED taillights with stylish guide lights.
It’s available in seven colours: white, silver, red, brown, graphite two shades of black.
With a bigger and lower body, the Toyota Camry now gets a much better stance, which helps it look more imposing.

The cabin gets an all-new layout with the driver's side of the dashboard being separated from the passenger side by a swooping silver accent.
The new Camry gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with in-built navigation and Bluetooth. It is housed within the Y-shaped silver accent on the centre console. Sadly, It does not offer popular smartphone connectivity options like Android Auto or MirrorLink. The unit is paired to a 9-speaker JBL sound system.
The instrument cluster gets a detailed full-colour MID that sits between the two analogue dials.
Other key features include a three-zone climate control, 10-way power adjust driver and passenger seat with lumbar support, memory function for the driver seat, front seat ventilation, ORVMs with memory settings, powered tilt/telescopic steering wheel, cruise control, a head-up display and a wireless charger for your smartphone.
For the rear seat occupants, the Camry offers beige leather upholstery, a sunroof, powered rear seats with recline function, a rear armrest with touch-sensitive controls for audio, seat recline, rear sun blind and AC.
Engine
The new Camry is only available with a hybrid powertrain.
It consists of a 2.5-litre petrol engine coupled to an electric motor.
The engine has been reworked and now makes more power than before. It makes 178PS of power and 221Nm of peak torque.
The electric motor makes 120PS of power and 202Nm of torque.
The hybrid system here is the fourth-gen version of the Toyota Hybrid System (THS II).
The combined output of the system is rated at 218PS.
Mated to an e-CVT with steering-mounted paddle shifters.
Three drive modes - Eco, Normal and Power
The claimed mileage of the new Camry hybrid is 23.27kmpl, which is up from 19.11kmpl.
Safety
The Toyota Camry comes with nine airbags - front driver and passenger, front side, rear side, curtain, driver knee.
Anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) and brake assist (BA).
Brake hold function, vehicle stability and traction control with off switch.
