Triumph unveiled the 2019 version of the Street Twin and Street Scrambler at last year’s INTERMOT show in Germany and showcased them at the EICMA show in Italy too. Now, our sources have revealed that Triumph India will be launching the two bikes in the country in February. The new-gen models come with minor design tweaks like a new logo on the tank, slightly redesigned side panels and new wheels.

The changes on the mechanical front are quite comprehensive, though. For starters, the motor now generates 65PS, which is 10PS more than the outgoing bikes However, the peak torque has remained the same at 80Nm. The motor also gets a magnesium case and there is a lighter clutch, lighter crankshaft, and balancer shaft as well. The two bikes also feature two new riding modes: Road and Rain. Switchable traction control and ABS are standard.

The two motorcycles also get new 41mm KYB front forks with cartridge damping, but the rear uses the same KYB twin shock absorbers with adjustable preload as before.

Earlier, the 310mm front disc in both bikes used two-piston Nissin calipers. But the 2019 version gets Brembo four-piston units up front. The rear 255mm disc with Nissin caliper has remained unchanged for the Street Scrambler. However, for the Street Twin, the rear disc size has been downsized from 255mm to 220mm, and are grabbed by the same Nissin two-piston caliper.

All these changes are likely to command a premium of around Rs 50,000 over the ex-showroom price of its predecessors, and Triumph is likely to continue with the CKD route for the new bikes too. Currently, the Street Twin costs Rs 7.7 lakh while the Street Scrambler is priced at Rs 8.6 lakh, both ex-showroom pan-India. The Street Twin does not have any natural rivals in its segment, considering the engine capacity and the price. On the other hand, the Street Scrambler rivals the Ducati Scrambler in India.
