Audi’s flagship A8L luxury sedan is all set to make a comeback in its latest iteration. The 2020 A8L comes with a new exterior design, Audi’s tech-laden cabin and a cleaner petrol engine. Further, it also promises to offer a better rear seat experience thanks to plenty of enhancements. So without further ado, here are 5 things you need to know about the 2020 Audi A8L.
Interior And Rear Seat Experience:
The Audi A8L’s main talking point is its rear seat experience. Just like its predecessor, It comes with the uber luxurious twin seat setup and will have plenty of creature comforts. The rear left occupant benefits from a relaxation seat. It allows them to slide the front seat all the way forward, expand the footrest, which now comes with a massaging function, recline the seat, and have a first-class experience.
Other creature comforts for rear occupants include individual climate controls, 10-inch Android tablets, massaging seats, foot massage for the left side occupant, sun blinds, ambient lighting and a refrigerator!
At the front, the A8L’s twin infotainment dashboard may seem familiar. However, the AC vents swivel and the tweeters pop up from the dashboard when you switch on the ignition. Cool stuff!
Exterior Design:

The 2020 Audi A8L comes with sharp lines and creases unlike its predecessor’s rounded design. The humongous single-piece grille and sleek LED headlamps give the flagship sedan much needed presence. In profile, a subtle shoulder line runs through the profile, giving it a minimalist and no-nonsense look. The connected tail lamps are some of the best in the business, especially when it does it’s dance while locking and unlocking the car.
Features:
Feature highlights on the 2020 Audi A8L include connected car technology, a four-zone climate control, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Bang and Olufsen sound system, in-car air quality system, ambient lighting, powered front seats, cruise control as well as Matrix LED interior lighting. Expected safety features include 8 airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a 360 degree camera as well as lane departure warning.
Further, the Audi A8L will come with a host of mechanical features for a good driving experience. It’ll be the first Audi in India to come with all-wheel-steering as standard. Further, we expect it to come with air suspension which can be lifted, stiffened or softened depending on the road condition.
Engine Options:
The 2020 Audi A8L will be offered with a 3.0-litre TFSI petrol engine that develops 340PS of power and 500Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It will be available with a 48v mild-hybrid system for additional torque boost. It also allows the A8 L to coast at speeds between 55-160kmph in pure electric power for 40 seconds.
Expected Prices And Rivals:
The Audi A8L is expected to start above Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom India). Its primary rivals include the BMW 7 Series and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
