The updated Benelli 302R has been unveiled in China. It now comes in new colours and an updated motor. Benelli sold the BS4 version of the 302R in India and is soon expected to replace it with the BS6 model. This updated model could be it.
For 2020, the Benelli 302R gets new livery and four new two-tone colours: green/black, red/black, blue/black and white/black. Besides this, there are no other cosmetic updates or changes to the bodywork.

Fun Fact: The BS4 Benelli 302R makes power and torque very high in the rev range.
Peak torque is delivered at 10,000rpm while peak power comes at 11,500rpm. This means you have to rev the bike quite high to extract performance.
The other major update is in the powertrain department. It continues to use the same 300cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor which now develops 35.35PS and 27Nm. The updated motor now makes 3.44PS and 0.5Nm less than the BS4 model. This power deficit could be due to the motor being tuned to comply with Euro 5/BS6 emission norms. At 204kg, the updated motorcycle also weighs 6kg more so expect a drop in performance. Benelli claims the bike can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 6.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 170kmph.
Underpinnings remain unchanged. The 2020 Benelli 302R continues to use a trellis frame with a tubular swingarm and suspension in the form of upside-down forks and monoshock. Braking is via twin 260mm front petal discs and a 240mm rear petal disc with dual-channel ABS. It gets a 14-litre fuel tank and a 785mm tall seat.
Benelli could launch the updated 302R later this year at a price of around Rs 3.20 lakh (ex-showroom). Before that though, it is expected to launch the Imperiale 400 this month.
