2020 Ford Endeavour 4x4 AT: First Drive Review

Ford India has launched the BS6-compliant 2020 Endeavour at prices starting from Rs 29.55 lakh (ex-showroom). This news comes in line with our earlier report where we had stated that the Endeavour BS6 will be launched by the end of February. The BS6 Endeavour comes with a new 2.0-litre diesel engine paired to a 10-speed automatic gearbox. It’ll be offered in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants. Ford has also used this opportunity to add a few features to up the Endeavour’s appeal. Here’s a detailed variant-wise price list:

Prices for the BS6-compliant Endeavour are introductory and applicable for bookings made till April 30, 2020, post which, prices will be hiked by Rs 70,000. The top two trims of the BS6-compliant Endeavour will still undercut the BS4 Endeavour by a considerable margin even after the price hike.
The Endeavour BS6 comes with a new BS6-compliant 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine developing 170PS of power and 420Nm of torque. It’ll be paired to a 10-speed automatic gearbox, which is a first in India. It has a claimed fuel efficiency of 13.90kmpl and 12.4kmpl for the rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants, respectively.
The Endeavour’s existing 2.2-litre and 3.2-litre diesel engines won’t be upgraded to meet BS6 norms and have been discontinued. Here’s how the new 2.0-litre engine compares against the BS4 motors:

As seen in the table above, the BS6 Endeavour’s numbers are more powerful than that of the 2.2-litre unit. However, it is 30PS and 50Nm less powerful than the bigger 3.2-litre unit.

The BS6-compliant Ford Endeavour also comes with new features like LED headlamps and Ford Pass connected car technology. Highlights for the latter include remote engine start-stop, remote locking and unlocking, viewing the vehicle status, as well operating certain features.
Its rivals include the Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas G4, and the upcoming MG Gloster. It must be mentioned that the Ford Endeavour undercuts the Fortuner diesel by a considerable margin. Take a look at the BS6-compliant Toyota Fortuner’s price list here.
