The 2020 Honda City is expected to hit showrooms soon after the nationwide lockdown has been lifted. We already know the top-spec City’s feature list thanks to a leaked brochure. Now, spy shots of the base-spec City’s interior have surfaced online ahead of its launch. Does it feel too plain? Let’s find out:
For starters, the dashboard layout is almost the same as the 2020 City ZX. The upholstery comes finished in a black shade rather than the beige finish in the top-spec model. And while the base-spec variant doesn’t come with the top-spec model’s fancy touchscreen system or cruise control, it is still decently equipped.
Highlights include a 2-din infotainment system with USB and AUX IN, Bluetooth telephony, climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, a smaller multi-info display, as well as an economy drive mode. On the safety front, it’s expected to come with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.

The 2020 Honda City will be offered with two BS6-compliant engine options: a 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. Specifications of the 1.5-litre petrol motor have been revealed -- it now develops 121PS, 2PS more than before. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is expected to develop 100PS of power and 200Nm of torque, figures similar to the BS4 model. It’s likely to be offered with a CVT, just like the Amaze.
Prices for the 2020 Honda City are expected to start from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2020 City will lock horns with the Hyundai Verna, VW Vento BS6, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Toyota Yaris, and the upcoming Skoda Rapid TSI.
