The carmaker recently rejigged its model lineup

  • Unlikely to feature any cosmetic changes.
  • It could carry over features like 7-inch touchscreen, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, and rear parking sensors.
  • Likely to retain its 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines with BS6 updates.
  • Expect it to rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Hyundai Elite i20 and the Tata Altroz.

While India isn’t going to get the fourth-gen Honda Jazz anytime soon, the carmaker will be giving it a BS6 update. Honda has now teased an image of the BS6 Jazz ahead of its debut slated for later this year.

BS4 Jazz used for representative purposes

The teaser image hides the majority of the BS6 Jazz, but it is unlikely to feature any cosmetic changes compared to its BS4 predecessor. Some notable exterior bits in the current Jazz include elongated LED tail lights and 16-inch alloy wheels.

The cabin is likely to remain similar to the current Jazz, albeit with some minor tweaks. Carryover features could include front centre armrest, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, and rear parking sensors.

The main change to the Honda Jazz will be under the hood. It is likely to retain the same 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel engines with a BS6 upgrade and identical performance figures. In its BS4 guise, the 1.2-litre petrol puts out 90PS/110Nm, whereas the diesel mill delivers 100PS/200Nm. Also expect the transmission options to be retained, with the petrol option being offered with a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission, and the diesel option paired with a 6-speed manual.

In the meantime, Honda has discontinued diesel variants of the Civic and CR-V, as well as dropped the BR-V from its lineup. However, we expect the Civic and CR-V diesel variants to return later this year with a BS6 upgrade.

The current Honda Jazz is sold at Rs 7.45 lakh to Rs 9.41 lakh (ex-showroom). Expect the BS6 Jazz to be sold at a premium over its predecessor owing to the BS6 upgrade. It will compete against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Hyundai Elite i20, and the Tata Altroz.
