Hyundai Motor India is expected to launch the facelifted Verna soon and bookings are open now. The carmaker had previously revealed the three engine options. Now, we know which trim levels will offer each of the three engines. We expect the 2020 Verna to be priced at upwards of Rs 8.40 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Toyota Yaris, and the upcoming Honda City.

The Verna will be available in four variants: S, S+, SX, and SX(O). Interestingly, the base S trim level will only be offered with the 1.5-litre 115PS/144Nm petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. S+ is diesel-manual only, equipped with a 1.5-litre 115PS/250Nm powerplant.
At the SX trim level, you can choose the petrol or the diesel engine. The former will also be available with an intelligent variable CVT automatic, while the latter will offer a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
As petrolheads, we are excited about the Verna’s 1.0-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol engine. It’ll only be available in the top-spec SX(O) trim level, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. At this trim level, the Verna offers the other two engines and their respective manual and automatic gearboxes as well.
Hyundai will offer these exterior colour options: Phantom Black, Polar White, Starry Night, Titan Grey, Typhoon Silver, and Fiery Red.
The facelifted Verna could be a compelling replacement for its predecessor. It packs features such as cruise control, a sunroof, and six airbags. But will the Verna stand its own ground against the upcoming Honda City? We can’t wait to find out.
