Earlier, we had reported that the facelifted Hyundai Verna will be offered with the Seltos’ BS6-compliant 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options. We were also quite sad that it won’t be offered with the sporty yet refined 1.4-litre T-GDI engine. But if you’ve dreamt of owning a Verna with a turbocharged petrol engine, we have good news for you.
Sources have confirmed that the facelifted Hyundai Verna will be offered with the BS6-compliant 1.0-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol engine. It is expected to put out 120PS of power and 172Nm of torque just like the Venue. It is likely to be offered with the choice of a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT.
Hyundai has been actively testing the facelifted Verna in the country. Going by the spy shots, the India-spec Verna looks quite similar to the recently unveiled Russia-spec Solaris. Highlights include Hyundai’s latest iteration of the cascading grille, new projector headlamps, alloy wheels, and restyled tail lamps. You can have a closer look at our detailed spy report here.

Inside, the facelifted Verna will come with a larger infotainment system just like the Venue. The centre console is expected to be slightly redesigned to accommodate the larger infotainment. The facelifted Verna is also expected to be offered with BlueLink connected car technology as well.
Other features like ventilated seats, a sunroof, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, keyless entry with push button start and a multi-info display will most probably be retained. We also expect safety features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and the rearview camera to be carried forward.
The 2020 Hyundai Verna is expected to hit showrooms by mid-2020. Expect it to be priced more than the current model which starts from Rs 8.18 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted Hyundai Verna will renew its rivalry with the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid, Toyota Yaris and the upcoming Honda City 2020.
