The facelifted 2020 Hyundai Verna has been spotted testing in the country yet again. Unlike earlier spy shots, this test mule reveals further details and looks similar to the recently unveiled Russia-spec Solaris sedan. Further, the 2020 Verna will also come with new BS6-compliant engine options.
Exterior Design:
The facelifted 2020 Verna comes with Hyundai’s latest iteration of the cascading grille flanked by restyled projector headlamps. Even the bumpers are new and the fog lamps are placed in a triangular housing. Apart from new alloy wheels, the facelifted Verna looks similar to the existing model at the side. Moving on to the rear, the Verna comes with restyled LED tail lamps and a new bumper design.
Interior Design:
A sneak peek inside the facelifted Verna’s cabin reveals a larger floating infotainment system a la the Hyundai Venue. Hyundai could also retain the existing Verna’s black-beige colour combination unlike the Solaris, which gets an all-black cabin.
Expected Features:
the automobile community
The 2020 Hyundai Verna is expected to come with new features like BlueLink connected-car technology and all-LED headlamps. Features like a sunroof, wireless charging, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, steering-mounted audio controls, and ventilated seats will be retained. We also expect Hyundai to retain safety features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and electronic stability control.
Expected Engine Options:
The major change for the 2020 Hyundai Verna will be under the hood as it’ll come with the Kia Seltos’ BS6-compliant 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options. Just like the Seltos, we expect the petrol motor to develop 115PS and 144Nm while the diesel motor is expected to put out 115PS and 250Nm. Both engines will come with a 6-speed manual option. However, if you’re looking for a two-pedal setup, the petrol could come with a CVT while the diesel could be offered with a torque converter.
Expected Launch, Prices, and Rivals:
The 2020 Verna is expected to hit showroom by mid-2020 and prices are expected to start above the current model (Rs 8.18 lakh onwards, ex-showroom). The 2020 Verna will lock horns with the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, Toyota Yaris, and the upcoming Skoda Rapid TSI, VW Vento BS6.
