Isuzu has been prepping the third iteration of the D-Max pickup for some time, with camouflage test mules being spied on public roads. And now, Isuzu has dropped a teaser video of the upcoming pickup truck on YouTube ahead of its debut on October 19. The earliest we expect to see it in India is by late 2020. While the video may be short, it reveals a host of details on what to expect from the next-gen D-Max.
At the front, the new D-Max gets a bolder and imposing front end. Highlights include slimmer headlights with LED DRLs giving an Audi-like impression. Other changes at the front include a massive grille that spans from the edge of the hood, all the way to the bottom. There are also changes to the rear with a new set of LED taillights to give the next-gen D-Max a modern touch.
The teaser video also gave us a glimpse of the interior and it is a definite overhaul from its predecessor. Highlights include a reworked centre console with AC vents flanking the infotainment system. Speaking of air conditioning, its climate control panel is also reworked. Ditching the circular design, it incorporates what looks like toggle switches to control the air conditioning. While Isuzu hasn’t revealed specific details, we expect further updates to the interior along with a revised infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Although the engine and gearbox options are yet to be revealed by Isuzu, we expect the D-Max to soldier on with the same powertrains in a different state of tune. Expected engine options could include a 1.9-litre twin-turbo diesel and a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel unit. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic mated to a 4x4 drivetrain as standard.
The new pickup will make its official debut on October 19, with a launch in 2020. In India, the current-gen D-Max V-Cross is priced between Rs 16.55 to Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). While there is no word as to when the next-gen D-Max will make it to our shores, expect it to come by 2020 as the current D-Max V-Cross has recently received a more premium Z-Prestige variant.
