Select dealers in the country have commenced bookings for the 2020 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R. But according to our sources, the 2020 iteration of the ZX-14R will be brought in limited numbers to our shores. It will be priced the same as the current model, which retails at Rs 19.7 lakh (ex-showroom). The booking amount hasn’t been revealed yet but Kawasaki dealers will be charging a bit extra to make sure that customers don’t cancel their orders.

One of the reasons why Kawasaki could be bringing limited units is that the updated ZX-14R is not Euro 5/BS6-compliant. So the manufacturer wants to bring only a limited number of units which it can sell before the new emission norms come into effect in India. The upcoming motorcycle isn’t an all-new product from the Japanese bike maker; instead, it gets a new black/green paint option… and that’s about it.

Apart from this minor cosmetic update, the motorcycle remains the same as the older model. You still get a monstrous 1,441cc, liquid-cooled, in-line four motor which belts out 210PS of power (with RAM air) and 158.2Nm of torque. The ZX-14R, in its current state, hasn’t been updated for years now, but we expect it might get a major update next year to make it Euro 5-compliant. There’s no word on the new-gen ZX-14R, but it could get a new design language and new features, and the power output might also vary to the current version. Now that the Tokyo Motor Show and EICMA are just around the corner, let’s hope that we get some more information about the all-new Ninja ZX-14R.
