The last time we had a brush with the Bolero was when Mahindra launched the Bolero Power Plus special edition. As with other SUVs in its lineup, Mahindra is set to update the Bolero for 2020. Along with subtle cosmetic changes, the Bolero will also gain a BS6-compliant heart.
The Bolero Power Plus received some safety updates along with a BS6-ready engine back in June 2019. The upcoming Bolero, on the other hand, will get a couple of cosmetic updates as well as a BS6-compliant engine. Currently, the 1.5-litre diesel engine churns out 71PS of power and 195Nm of torque. This engine is expected to come mated to the same 5-speed manual transmission as before.
As for the cosmetic changes, the 2020 Bolero will get a new grille, new front bumper, new headlamps and a slightly redesigned hood. Apart from these updates, the new Bolero looks similar to the current verison. The new Bolero will also borrow the Bolero Power Plus’ updated safety kit. So expect it to come with a driver airbag, high speed alert, driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder, and rear parking sensors as standard. The cabin also gets some sublte changes and it still features the digital cluster as well as the driver information system at the centre.
We can also expect a variant regij. The upcoming version will be offered in B4, B6 and B6(O). The current Bolero Power Plus is available in LX, SLE, SLX and ZLX. Expect the BS6 variants to be priced at a premium of Rs 60,000 over the current model that retails from Rs 7.61 lakh to Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
