Renault has showcased the most-powerful version of the Duster at Auto Expo 2020. Equipped with a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine, the Duster Turbo produces 156PS and 250Nm of twist. Although an official announcement is underway, we expect Renault to launch the Duster Turbo around August 2020.

The gist of the matter is the BS6-compliant 1.3-litre TCe turbocharged engine, which makes a substantial 50PS and 108Nm more than the existing petrol engine. The Duster has always been an SUV with strong dynamics. We think the new turbocharged petrol engine combined with the Duster's handling capabilities will be a fun-to-drive package. Meanwhile, the transmission duties are expected to be handled by a 5-speed manual and a CVT.

Cosmetically, the Duster Turbo looks almost similar to the existing version save for some minor tweaks. These include red accents on the front grille, fog lamp housing, as well as Duster and turbo badging on the tailgate. It also gets redesigned 17-inch wheels.

We expect it to be launched by August 2020 at a premium over the current pricing. It will also serve as a replacement for the 1.5-litre diesel engine, which will bid farewell soon. The Duster originally competes with sub-4m SUVs such as the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport, and the Hyundai Venue. With the new turbocharged petrol engine in place, it might also compete with the Kia Seltos and the 2020 Hyundai Creta.
