2020 Skoda Octavia Spied With Grey Camouflage

• The 2020 Octavia is slated for a global unveil on November 11.
• Exterior gets majority styling updates at the front and rear, notably new headlamps.
• Inside, the 2020 Octavia comes with a new dashboard and floating infotainment system.
• Expected to be showcased at 2020 Auto Expo.

The 2020 Skoda Octavia was expected to make its presence felt at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. But unfortunately, it didn’t. However, the Czech carmaker is still  road testing the Octavia and a test mule has been spied in a funky silver colour camouflage ahead of its official November 11 reveal. 

Majority of the design changes of the upcoming Octavia are at the front and rear. One major change everyone can notice are the new single-piece headlamps that replace the quad units of the current car. Apart from that, Skoda’s trademark butterfly grille has also grown up in size. In profile, you can notice the new wheels that are likely to be 18-inches (two-inches up) while the windowline remains more or less the same. At the back, the restyled tail lamps that are likely to be split units while a sharper looking tailgate tops the list.  

Based on previous spy shots, the 2020 Octavia comes with a new dashboard. Elements like the digital driver’s display and indicator stalks have been carried over. Apart from that, a new floating infotainment system dominates the central console while aircraft-style toggle switches for the hazards, drive modes and other functions sit below it. You also get a new three-spoke steering wheel that looks more premium.  

Expected features in the upcoming Octavia include connected-car tech, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, powered front seats, a multi-info display, cruise control as well as keyless entry with push button start. Safety features are also likely to be carried over, including eight airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program, front and rear parking sensors, rear view camera and tyre pressure monitor.  

Under the hood, the Octavia is expected to come with a plethora of engine options including a hybrid variant. Closer to home, we expect the Octavia to come with the 2.0-litre TDI engine in its BS6 avatar and a new 1.5-litre TSI engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system. Apart from that, expect the souped-up VRS variant to satisfy the enthusiast as well. Expected transmission include a 6-speed manual and DSG while the VRS is expected to be limited to the latter only.  

Global sales of the 2020 Octavia are expected to start by early 2020. We expect the Czech carmaker to showcase the model in India at the upcoming 2020 Auto Expo with an official launch by mid 2020. Expect the 2020 Octavia to cost more than the current car which is priced from Rs 16 lakh to Rs 26 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, the next-gen Octavia will rival the Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra and Toyota Corolla Altis.
