Tata Motors has launched a new XZ+(S) variant of the Nexon, priced at Rs 10.10 lakh. Based on the range-topping XZ+(O) variant, it retains features such as the sunroof, cruise control, and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It is also Rs 30,000 cheaper than the XZ+(O) variation across all engine and gearbox options.
However, it misses out on Tata’s iRA connected car tech which includes live diagnostics, live location, and geo-fencing that can be accessed through a smartphone app. Apart from this, the new variant carries forward all the other features with the highlights being cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a sunroof.
The Nexon received a facelift recently and is now powered by BS6-compliant 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. The oil burner comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or AMT and develops 110PS and 260Nm of twist. On the other hand, the 1.2-litre petrol is good enough for 110PS and 170Nm of torque coupled to a 6-speed manual/AMT. As mentioned, the new XZ+(S) variant is available with all manual and AMT options, both petrol and diesel engines, as well as the dual-tone option too. All the versions are also more affordable by Rs 30,000.
Prices for the Nexon petrol start from Rs 6.95 lakh while the diesel variant starts from Rs 8.45 lakh (ex-showroom). Key rivals include the Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and the Mahindra XUV300. The Nexon will also face competition from upcoming sub-4m SUVs from Nissan, Renault, and Kia.
