British two-wheeler manufacturer Triumph took the wraps off the 2020 Street Triple RS last October. The streetfighter received cosmetic updates, better features, revised ergos, and a tweaked powertrain for 2020. We managed to spend some saddle time on the bike and came back thoroughly impressed. You can read our first impressions here. The bike’s just days away from its official launch in India that will take place on March 25.
The talking point for the 2020 model is its engine. It’s been tweaked to comply with Euro-5 emission norms. The motor that’s borrowed from new Daytona churns out 123PS and 73Nm of torque. Details of the updated motor are available here. What's also new is a bi-directional quick-shifter that now comes as part of the standard kit. Its rider modes have been tweaked for better performance while the TFT dash now gets MyTriumph connectivity system.
There's no change in hardware so it basically uses the same suspension and braking setup as before. The only difference though is the new bike runs on grippier Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP v3 tyres.
Triumph has also given the RS a new face where the bug-eye headlights look more aggressive than before with new LED lights and DRLs. Other than this, the flyscreen, side panels, rear unit, and seat cowl receive subtle design updates.
The aforementioned updates are likely to garner a price of around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). We say this taking into consideration that Triumph has managed to keep the price of the Street Triple RS more or less the same in the International market. The 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS will compete against the Yamaha MT-09, KTM 790 Duke, and the Ducati Monster 821.
