The RS 125 and Tuono 125 have undergone a major visual overhaul for 2021

The Aprilia RS 660 was an important motorcycle for the Italian marque. Not only did it mark the Italian brand’s entry in the mid-displacement supersport segment, but it also gave the world an insight into its new design language. The Tuono 660, 2021 RSV4, and the Tuono V4 eventually followed. Now, the House of Noale has updated the smallest of the lot: the RS 125 and Tuono 125.

Just a glance and you know these pocket rockets take design inspiration from their elder siblings. The headlight, however, has a striking resemblance to the ones on the Aprilia SXR 160 and the SXR 125. In fact, even the LCD instrument console looks straight off the Italian maxi-scooter.

The changes aren’t just skin-deep though. These Aprilia twins continue to be powered by the 124cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, but they are now Euro5 compliant. Despite the Euro5 transition, the 2021 RS 125 and the Tuono 125 haven’t lost any power. They continue to produce 15.2PS at 10,750rpm -- the maximum permissible output as per European regulations for bikes of this class. Though the bikemaker hasn’t revealed the torque figure yet, it is likely to be slightly more than the outgoing model’s 10.90Nm.

Other changes on the bikes include an improved dual-channel ABS unit and a fatter rear tyre. The Aprilia 125 twins continue to use the same USD fork and monoshock setup. Even the braking hardware with disc brakes at both ends are from the older model. However, the brand hasn’t specified if it has many any changes to the internals of the suspension and the braking equipment.

The 2021 Aprilia RS 125 and the Tuono 125 have already started reaching dealerships in Italy and are expected to launch soon. The bikes are unlikely to come to India. However, Aprilia is gearing up to launch the RS 660 and the Tuono 660 here, which are likely to be priced on par with some litre-class bikes!
