After launching the Ducati Multistrada V4 last month, the Italian bikemaker is all set to follow it up with the 2021 Ducati XDiavel range which has been teased on the company’s social media channels. Expect Ducati to launch the performance cruiser later this month.
The teaser mentions ‘A star is born’, possibly hinting at the arrival of the Black Star edition along with the Dark and S variants of the XDiavel. Prices are likely to start from around Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom India). The only other performance-oriented cruiser alternative will be the manic Triumph Rocket 3.
The 2021 iteration was unveiled back in November 2020. For this year, Ducati has made the 1262cc L-twin engine run cleaner (BS6/ Euro 5-compliant) and also make 8PS more than before, with 160PS arriving at 9500rpm. The peak torque output stands at 127Nm at 5000rpm, 1Nm more than before. As expected, Ducati has equipped the cruiser with a range of electronics including Sport, Touring, and Urban riding modes, traction control, launch control, cruise control, and cornering ABS with Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU).
All three variants employ a fully adjustable inverted front fork and a preload- and rebound- adjustable rear monoshock. While the base Dark variant is anchored by Brembo M4.32 radial calipers with 320mm discs up front, the S and the Black Star models feature more premium Brembo M50 calipers. The rear end uses a 265mm disc with Brembo 2-piston calipers on all the variants.
While the standard variant rolls on cast alloy wheels, the S model gets a pair of nicer looking cast and machined alloys. The range-topping Black Star gets 2kg lighter forged, machined alloys. It also features a premium suede seat cover, forged and anodized frame plates, blacked-out powertrain with matte black aluminium belt covers, billet aluminium rear view mirrors, and standard smartphone connectivity. All three variants get an all-LED lighting system and a TFT instrument cluster as standard.
The upcoming Ducati XDiavel complements the brand’s already existing 2021 Ducati Diavel 1260, which starts from Rs 18.49 lakh (ex-showroom India). Would you pick one of these or do you think the Rocket 3 offers more bang for the buck? Let us know in the comments below.
