After a global debut in China back in November 2020, Jeep has finally revealed the mid-life refresh of the Compass SUV in India. It gets a refreshed exterior, redesigned interior as well as more tech on offer. Pre-bookings have already commenced.
The biggest cosmetic changes on the new Compass are up front with a fresh set of LED headlamps combined with LED DRLs as well as a more muscular bumper featuring LED fog lamps. The rest of the SUV looks relatively unchanged, aside from an updated lighting configuration for the tail lamps.
Heading inside, the cabin gets the biggest makeover with a sleek accent running along the dashboard and another accent around the lower half of the dashboard for a premium feel. It’ll be offered with dual-tone and full-black combinations in leather and fabric upholstery, depending on the trim and variant.
Feature upgrades include a new steering wheel, an all-new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a larger 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system running the latest UConnect 5 software. It comes with wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto, up to five custom profiles, and OTA updates. It also gets other additional bits such as wireless charging, a 360-degree remote camera, cruise control, powered liftgate, and powered front seats with ventilation and memory settings. The safety kit features six airbags, hill descent control, panic brake assist, rain brake support, and roll mitigation.
Under the hood, it will retain the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engine engine options from the pre-facelift model. The petrol unit makes 163PS and 250Nm with the choice of a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Its diesel engine delivers 170PS and 350Nm with the options of a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed automatic transmission. Expect the diesel-powered Compass to continue offering the option of an AWD system.
The Jeep Compass facelift could go on sale around February at a premium over the pre-facelift model that retails between Rs 16.49 lakh and Rs 27.60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Expect the rugged Trailhawk trim to get a facelift in the near future. It will continue to rival the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, MG Hector, and Tata Harrier.
