MG Motor India has given the ZS electric SUV a subtle upgrade for 2021 and priced it from Rs 20.99 lakh to Rs 24.18 lakh (ex-showroom). It retains its Excite and Exclusive variants. This update comes shortly after the launch of the Hector facelift and the 7-seater Hector Plus.

Prices for the base Excite variant have gone up by Rs 11,000, whereas the Exclusive variant is dearer by Rs 60,000.
It gets an updated 44.5kWh HT (Hi-Tech) battery pack that gives juice to the 143PS/353Nm electric motor. This translates to a claimed range of 419km, 79km more than before (340km). A DC fast-charger charges the electric SUV from 0-80 percent in 50 minutes. A normal 7.4kWhm wall box charger charges it completely in 6 to 8 hours.
While it remains cosmetically unchanged, it now gets a larger tyre-aspect ratio at 215/55 R17 compared to 215/50 R17 from its predecessor. Ground clearance has also been raised to 177mm compared to 161mm in the earlier model. Another notable addition is the introduction of an EcoTree challenge in the i-Smart 2.0 connected car technology. Basically, you can track real-time progress of your CO2 savings with the car. You can also compare it to the top 10 ZS EV owners in the country via a leaderboard.
An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, rain-sensing front wipers, an 8.9-inch MID, dual-pane sunroof, push button start/stop, 6-way adjustable driver’s seat, and a PM2.5 air filter are retained. Safety features include six airbags, ABS+EBD, brake assist, reverse parking camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, and ESP.
There’s more in store for the MG ZS EV, as Rajeev Chaba, Managing Director of MG Motor India, has confirmed a longer range variant for 2022. This variant, which could be introduced with a facelift and will likely utilize a 73kWh battery pack pushing the range up to 500km. In total, MG now offers the ZS EV across 31 cities. The ZS EV rivals the Hyundai Kona Electric.
