BMW Group’s Mini India has launched the facelifted versions of three members from its range: Mini 3-door, Mini Convertible, and Mini John Cooper Works. These have been brought in as Completely Built-up (CBU) units.
All three models in 2021 will be available in as many as eleven colour options. The ones that have been retained include British Racing Green, Chilli Red, Midnight Black, Moonwalk Grey, Pepper White, White Silver, and Enigmatic Black (optional). Additionally, there are four new shades this time: Island Blue, Rooftop Grey, Zesty Yellow (limited to the Convertible), and Rebel Green (reserved for JCW).
Coming to the design. All three get a refreshed radiator grille on the front, flanked by the traditional round LED headlights. The new vertical air intakes help with increased aerodynamic efficiency. At the rear, we have the same Union Jack-styled LED tail lights as before. The Mini JCW continues with the distinct racing stripes on the bonnet.
Inside, customers get two new surface design options: Silver Chequered and Aluminium. In addition, all three facelifted models pack a bigger 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with touch-sensitive buttons, ambient lighting, Harmon-Kardon speaker system, multiple drive modes, cruise control, rear camera, head-up display, park assist, and an LED ring light around the centre console. Mini has also provided them with optional 5-inch instrument clusters and interior packages.
Safety features include front airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and cornering brake control.
Under the hood, all three have been provided with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. In the 3-door and Convertible S, this unit puts out 192PS and 280Nm, paired with a 7-speed DCT. In the JCW, the same engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic unit, and it puts out 231PS and 320Nm.
The JCW takes 6.1 seconds to go from 0-100kmph, the Convertible does that in 7.1 seconds, and the 3-door in 6.7 seconds.
