Earlier today, Royal Enfield took the wraps off the 2021 Himalayan. The new model gets quite a few updates and a higher asking price. But is it any good? Sit back and let these images answer your questions.
Design
Royal Enfield has kept the overall design of the Himalayan intact. However, the front rack has been fiddled with to create more knee-space for taller riders. It also gets a new smoked-windscreen.
The seat gets a denser foam for added comfort.
The tail rack has been redesigned to withstand heavier luggage.
Engine
The 2021 Himalayan continues to be powered by the same motor. It’s a 411cc, single-cylinder counterbalanced unit that makes 24.8PS and 32Nm and is mated to a 5-speed transmission.
Features
For its latest iteration, the Himalayan borrows the Tripper navigation system from the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. Apart from the added pod, the Himalayan features a compass, gear-position indicator, odometer, and displays the basic readings. Royal Enfield provides the Himalayan with the standard bash-plate.
Underpinnings
Royal Enfield has made no change to the suspension and the braking hardware on the new Himalayan. The bike is sprung on 41mm telescopic forks with 200mm of travel and a monoshock. Braking department is handled by a 300mm front and a 240mm rear disc setup. Dual-channel ABS comes standard.
Colours
Apart from the existing Gravel Grey, Lake Blue, and Rock Red, Royal Enfield has introduced three new colours: Pine Green, Mirage Silver, and a new shade of Granite Black.
Pricing
Sure, the updates for the 2021 model are commendable, but they don’t come cheap. The bike is now priced at Rs 2,01,314, which is almost Rs 9,000 more than the previous model.
