[UPDATE: Royal Enfield has launched the 2021 Himalayan and you can check out our dedicated launch article for full details.]
It is finally time for the first product launch for the year from Royal Enfield, the updated Himalayan. The entry-level RE ADV has been spotted on test quite a few times, most recently at a dealer yard just yesterday. There’s going to be a small price hike in store for the bike, something to the tune of Rs 5,000.
Among the new bits on the ’21 Himalayan, the main talking point will be the Tripper pod borrowed from the Meteor 350, which will lend a modern touch to the spartan information cluster of the Himalayan. Three new colours, redesigned tank braces and a dual tone seat are the other new bits on the Himalayan.
Powering it will still be the 411cc single-cylinder air-cooled (w/oil-cooler) motor that makes 24.31PS and 32Nm. No mechanical changes are expected. The chassis is already quite fortified from previous editions, so no tweaks expected there and the suspension is highly likely to retain its suppleness. Braking could be improved but this is something that we will have to reconfirm once we get our hands on the bike for a road test.
The Himalayan is just the start of the party of motorcycles that Royal Enfield will be launching this year. The J-platform Classic 350, the 650cc cruiser and a few other bikes are expected to launch this year. Here’s what we expect the Indian heritage motorcycling brand has in store for us.
