The fourth-gen Octavia will be based on the VW Group’s MQB platform. While the wheelbase remains the same at  2,686mm, the sedan is now 4,689mm in length, 19mm more than before. Also, unlike the third-gen model that got both petrol and diesel engines, the upcoming Octy will be powered by only a 190PS 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine coupled with a 7-speed DSG.

The Octavia has already arrived at select dealerships, and we know that the top-of-the-line Laurin and Klement trim has been retained. The sedan packs features like a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, ambient lighting, powered front seats, and a wireless phone charger.

Passenger safety should be covered by multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and an electronic parking brake (a new addition in the Octy).

The fourth-gen sedan will likely be priced from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the Hyundai Elantra, which is the only other model in this segment as of now. That aside, the Octavia also doubles up as an alternative to other closely priced SUVs like the Jeep Compass and Citroen C5 Aircross.
