With the number of maxi-scooters in the market on a steep rise, we’re used to seeing diverse offerings from different manufacturers. One such model is the 2021 WMoto RT3 which was recently launched in its home country, Malaysia, at RM 15,188 (Rs 2.67 lakh). The scooter is manufactured by the Chinese motorcycle giant, Zongshen, which has tie-ups with Harley-Davidson and Piaggio.

Like any other maxi-scooter, the WMoto RT3 looks big and accommodating. It gets a tall windscreen up front, a sporty LED headlamp paired with integrated LED indicators, and ten-spoke alloy wheels. Towards the rear, the scooter features a broad LED tail lamp and a luggage mount plate. It is offered in three colour options: Matte Grey, Glittery Blue, and Red.

As for features, the RT3 gets a semi-digital instrument cluster that displays all the necessary information. It comes with six colour options for the display: red, purple, orange, blue, yellow, and white. The package is completed with two backlit USB ports and a smart key for keyless ignition.

The scooter is ergonomically sound too as it gets a long and wide seat raised towards the rear to provide better back support to the rider along with adjustable brake levers. The manufacturer claims its underseat storage, which gets LED for illumination, can house a helmet, raincoat, and personal items.

The WMoto RT3 is powered by a 247cc single-cylinder engine, which puts out 23.3PS and 22.5Nm. It rides on a 15-inch front and a 14-inch rear tyre shod with single-disc brakes. Dual-channel ABS by Bosch comes standard on the RT3. For suspension duties, the scooter employs a telescopic fork and dual-shock absorbers.

Judging from all this, the WMoto RT3 rounds up as an excellent maxi-scooter loaded with features and plenty of performance at hand. If it were to arrive in India, it would easily be one of the most advanced scooters here. But as usual, the chances of the RT3 hitting Indian shores are rather bleak. That said, if maxi-scooters excite you, you might want to take a look at the affordable Suzuki Burgman Street and the premium Aprilia SXR 160.
