The fourth month of 2023 is all set for some exciting launches. Another SUV-crossover from Maruti will take its position in the crowded subcompact SUV, while MG is trying to enter the affordable EV space. Besides the budget market, two fast and furious cars are incoming as well.
Here are six cars that are expected in April:
Expected Price - Rs 8 lakh onwards
The Maruti Fronx is expected to go on sale in the early days of April. The crossover was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 and is already available for bookings and display. It’s based on the Baleno but sports a different design with more rugged styling. It also carries several design elements of the Grand Vitara, inside and out. The Fronx features a nine-inch touchscreen system, wireless charger, paddle shifters, up to six airbags, and a 360-degree camera. The crossover is offered with 1.2-litre petrol and 1-litre turbo-petrol engines, paired with manual and automatic transmissions.
Expected Price - Rs 9 Lakh onwards
One of the most unique and affordable EVs is incoming from MG. The Comet EV is expected to debut by the end of April. It’s a two-door electric hatchback with the convenience of seating four people. While the Comet EV looks quirky from the outside, it sports a feature-rich cabin. It comes equipped with dual 10.25-inch displays for the touchscreen and instrument cluster, automatic AC, rear parking camera, dual front airbags, and electronic stability control. Globally, the Comet EV (Called Wuling Almaz in Indonesia) gets 17.3kWh and 26.7kWh battery packs with 200km and 300km of range, respectively. We’re expecting both of the options onboard. It could rival the likes of the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3.

Citroen has confirmed the unveiling of its next SUV for India, on April 27. It’s expected to be a compact SUV offering with a three-row seating configuration. That way, it will be a rival to the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara and other models in the compact SUV space. It will be based on the C3 hatchback but with subtle visual changes and more rugged styling. Features onboard should include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment, automatic AC, cruise control, a digital instrument panel, dual front airbags, and a rear parking camera. Under the hood of this SUV, we could see the C3’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with manual and automatic transmissions.
Expected Price: Around Rs 22 Lakh
While the Crysta’s G and GX variants are already on sale, the VX and ZX variants are expected to be launched this month. The MPV continues with its 150PS 2.4-litre diesel engine, with a manual transmission. The top-end variant will get automatic projector headlamps, an 8-inch touchscreen system, cruise control, automatic AC, up to seven airbags, and a rear parking camera.
Expected Price - Rs 3.7 crore
The Lambo SUV’s getting a facelift in form of a new ‘S’ variant. With some mild and more aggressive-looking tweaks to the exterior design, the Urus S also gets a new 4-litre V8 Twin-turbo engine. Thanks to the update, it’s almost as powerful and quick as the Urus Performante, with the ability to complete the 0-100kmph sprint in 3.5 seconds!
Expected Price - Rs 3 crore
The first plug-in hybrid from Affalterbach is heading to our shores this month. The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S E Performance uses a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 which is coupled with an electric motor. The combined output is an insane 843PS and 1400Nm of performance and a claimed 0-100kmph clock time of 2.9 seconds. However, since the battery pack is purely for performance, it delivers a measly electric range of 12 kilometres.
