The newly launched, Skoda Kylaq sub-compact SUV goes head-to-head with the Nissan Magnite, which received an update just earlier this year. While we’ve previously compared the specifications of both SUVs in detail, this time we’re focusing on the extra features the Czech SUV brings to the table over its Japanese rival. Here’s a detailed look below:
The Skoda Kylaq features a split headlight setup, with headlamps paired alongside fog lamps positioned below the DRLs. These fog lamps come with cornering functionality, which means the light direction adjusts based on the steering angle, improving visibility while turning. This feature is absent in the Magnite.
The Kylaq offers a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an 8-inch fully digital instrument cluster. In comparison, the Magnite comes with a smaller 8-inch infotainment system and a 7-inch digital driver display. Both SUVs, however, support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for smartphone connectivity.
The Skoda Kylaq gets a single-pane sunroof, a feature highly popular among Indian buyers. The Magnite, on the other hand, misses out on this entirely, giving the Czech SUV a significant edge in appeal and cabin ambience.
In the Kylaq, you can avoid the clutter of wires with the wireless phone charger, which is especially convenient on long drives when your phone battery runs low and needs charging on the go. The Magnite doesn’t come with this feature built-in, however it can be added as an aftermarket accessory.
The Kylaq sets itself apart with 6-way power-adjustable front seats for both the driver and passenger – a first for its segment. These seats also come with a ventilation function, ideal for India’s hot climate. Unfortunately, the Magnite does not offer powered or ventilated seats, giving the Kylaq a significant advantage.
Paddle shifters in the Kylaq allow drivers to manually shift gears directly from the steering wheel, offering greater control and a sporty driving experience. This feature is particularly useful on winding roads or spirited drives. The Magnite does not include paddle shifters, putting the Kylaq a step ahead.
The Kylaq is equipped with rain-sensing wipers that automatically activate and adjust their speed based on the intensity of rainfall, ensuring better visibility without manual intervention. In contrast, the Magnite requires drivers to operate the wipers manually, lacking this level of convenience.
If you’re interested in exploring more differences between these two sub-compact SUVs, we’ve covered them in detail in this story.
The Skoda Kylaq gets a single 1-litre turbo petrol engine option in its powertrain, while the Nissan Magnite offers more variety with both a turbo petrol engine and a naturally aspirated petrol option. You can check out the detailed figures in the story linked above.
In terms of pricing, the Skoda Kylaq starts at an introductory price of ₹7.89 lakh (ex-showroom), with full prices to be revealed on December 2. On the other hand, the Nissan Magnite is more affordable, priced between ₹6 lakh and ₹11.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
