Your imagination might go a little wilder when you realise that a team of British designers from the University of Warwick, have actually created a racing car made out of veggies. This particular car runs on 30% biodiesel derived from chocolate waste, fibers extracted from carrot pulp left over from the juice make up for the steering wheel, and parts of the front wing and the mirrors are made of potato starch and flax fiber! Other eco-friendly materials that are used in the car include, a side pod made from recycled bottles, a recycled carbon-fiber engine cover and radiator coatings that transform ozone to oxygen.
Named as the EcoF3, this racing car can zoom with a top speed of 145 mph.The car built on Formula 3 specifications, is said to be the fastest car to run on biofuel. The car, which was unveiled on Tuesday, will go on display at several races including the European Grand Prix and Britain's Goodwood Festival of Speed.
However, due to its unusual fuel means, ecoF3 doesn't meet regulations and is unable to compete even after being launched next month. The designers of the car though are hopeful that the rules might be changed so the car may be able to compete next season.
