When you read about cars it might be confusing to read about pillars and how they are designed or shaped if you do not understand where these pillars are located in the first place. Read on to learn about them

The A pillar is the frame of the front windshield that is between the windshield and the front doors. All cars with a windshield come with an A pillar.

The B pillars are located behind the front doors. It is the frame between the front and rear doors. Coupes and two door sports cars do not have B pillars as these cars have no rear doors.

The C pillars are located behind the rear doors. All cars have C pillars. Coupes and sports cars have no B pillars and come with only A pillars and C pillars.

The D pillar is found only on certain hatchbacks, station wagons, MUVs and SUVs. The D pillar is located behind the rear quarter glass and the boot lid or door.

The Pillars are designed in a way to reduce blind spots out of car windows while creating a safe structural integrity of a car. The most important design is that of the A pillar as they have to be designed to stay intact in the event of a crash and reduce blind spot out of the cabin.
