The second-generation Mahindra Thar has had a pretty good run since its launch on October 2. Aside from garnering plenty of interest and a 4-star Global NCAP safety rating leading to long waiting periods, Mahindra has also offered several accessories for more personalisation. The carmaker has now added a new set of accessories to the Thar’s official list.

One of the most notable add-ons is the red interior pack that features red themed AC vents as well as red accents on the dashboard, doors, cup holders and seat covers. The other important accessory is a radiator guard to protect it in tough off-road conditions.
The Mahindra Thar continues to get a Dark Lord/Intense Chrome pack, body decals, 18/16-inch black machined alloy wheels as well as various seat covers, floor mats, and body cover options via the maintenance range of accessories. The adventure pack adds off-road goodies such as a snatch strap, tree trunk protector, tow hook with keeper, roof top tent, winch, and an RV air compressor.

Prices for the additional accessories such as front parking sensors, head-up display, and rear parking camera are yet to be revealed on the official website, but we expect an announcement soon. Mahindra currently retails the Thar from Rs 9.80 lakh to Rs 13.75 lakh (ex-showroom), but it is expected to get a price hike very soon. While it is offered in three variants: AX, AX Opt, and LX, only the AX Opt and LX bookings are currently being accepted. This is partly due to the two variants featuring front-facing rear seats, as opposed to side-facing rear bench seats for the barebones AX.
The Mahindra Thar currently doesn’t have any rivals, but it will soon face competition from the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha BS6.
