Ever since its birth, MV Agusta has become a brand synonymous with exclusive and powerful machines. This exclusivity does come with a price though, in that only a few of us can really afford these stunning Italian beasts. To make the brand somewhat more accessible for the common man, the company is now planning to launch (slightly more) affordable motorcycles soon. MV Agusta’s CEO Timur Sardarov recently told Motorcycle News that MV has started working on ‘accessible’ versions of its most exclusive models, the Superveloce 800 Serie Oro and the Brutale 1000 Serie Oro. Expect these affordable models to make a splash at the upcoming EICMA. Speaking to the website, Sardarov said, “We want to bring the bike to as many customers as we can and so want a bike that’s more accessible, with fewer features, but that will breathe the same DNA and design."
The Superveloce 800 Serie Oro, which was unveiled as a concept last year, received such a tremendous response from enthusiasts that MV decided to make 300 units of the motorcycle. Based on the F3 800, the design of the Superveloce 800 Serie Oro (priced at Rs 21 lakh approx) is inspired by MV Agusta’s Grand Prix racers of the 60’s and the 70’s. The new affordable version could follow the same design language as the standard model. To keep the price low, MV Agusta could switch top-spec components such as magnesium wheels, Marzocchi upside down forks and so on with mid-spec components. However, the engine, chassis and the electronic riding aids will likely to be the same as the limited-edition models. Just like the Superveloce, the Brutale 1000 Serie Oro too is limited to just 300 units and is priced at a whopping £37,990 (around Rs 33 lakh). The new model is likely to be powered by the same 998cc, inline-four engine as seen on the standard model.
Currently, the bikes so far are all sporty and modern but now MV Agusta is taking the retro-modern angle inspired by the brand's heritage, and will soon start to work on diversifying its model lineup. "The Superveloce is our first step towards that. It’s opened a whole segment of bikes that are inspired by MV’s heritage. We will not stop with the Superveloce only. There are some surprises coming." We are so looking forward to the upcoming EICMA!
