Audi’s first offering of its compact luxury SUV, the Q3, is a success - 500 bookings in 5 days. That’s nearly 4 bookings every hour! And Audi credits their marketing guys, the “Start Young” music video and John Abraham for the overwhelming response!
So is it true what they say, with right marketing, you can sell a comb to a bald man? Not exactly! The Q3 is a pretty good car. Even though it is smaller than the Q5, it still looks bigger than the BMW X1. It has road presence, comfortable seats, ample legroom - even in the back, comfy suspension, and a boot that’s big enough to pack all your vacation essentials - and that’s pretty much what we want in India.
Other things we don’t desperately want, but don’t mind having at our disposal include the Q5’s powerful 2.0-litre TDI engine, which produces 177PS and 350Nm torque. The Q3 is great to live with. Quality levels are just as good as its big brothers and equipment list reads long, too. And at a price ranging from Rs 26-32 lakh, apt for the customers Audi is targeting.
It’s not just the rich youngsters Audi is looking to woo. It has kicked off the “Start Young” Music Movement, a contest for youngsters to make music videos for Audi Q3 starring themselves. The winner will get a brand new Audi Q3 to keep for a month. The first runner-up gets a chance to meet John Abraham while 5 finalists will win invitations to the Audi Q3 customer drives.
“This [campaign] has created a strong connect with our brand enthusiasts and we look forward to have many more interesting conversations with our customers with the addition of special Audi Q3 website and Youtube channel,” said Audi India Head Michael Perschke.
So if you missed the first round of bookings, don’t worry, Audi is opening the next round of bookings for another 500 Q3s by the end of June.
