Evolving with the ever-changing times, Bajaj has achieved BSIV compliance for all its vehicles, right from the lowest model – the CT100 – all the way up to the Dominar 400. The update also includes its three-wheelers and quadricycles. The company is the first Indian motorcycle manufacturer to do so, and seems to have raised the bar for the others to follow

Clearly, with the rise in the number of vehicles on Indian roads, vehicular pollution should be taken seriously, with strong measures taken to restrict it. These measures – BSIV norms being one such – will apply to vehicles in some of the big as well as a few smaller cities across the country. However, most manufacturers seem to be taking their time and waiting it out till the norms actually kick in, which is why this step by Bajaj is commendable. Another notable thing is that the measures are being taken for all of the vehicles in the company’s portfolio, across the country, instead of just its offerings in the cities where it will be mandatory to comply to the norms.

The company has always been at the forefront of bringing positive changes to the industry and that sentiment reflects in its bikes. It was also the first Indian bike manufacturer to introduce perimeter frame chassis in its performance bikes, starting with the NS200 and then proceeding to the RS200, with the latest one being the Dominar 400. The changes made to the engines of the vehicles include a revised exhaust system, and that’s that – there’s no impact on the fuel economy of the vehicles.
