Motorcycle safety and innovation has been one of the highlights of BMW products and building on its heritage of making world class motorbikes, BMW has announced that its entire two-wheeler model range will get anti-lock braking system as standard fitment from next year onwards. The pioneers of anti-lock braking system on motorcycles, BMW Motorrad will become the first motorcycle manufacturer in the world to employ ABS on its entire line-up as standard equipment.

This latest development is a part of BMW’s “Safety 360 Degree” program focusing on improved motorcycle safety technologies. The new approach from the German bike-maker centers on motorcycle safety fundamentals that have been broken down into three key parameters consisting of:

  1. Safety technology in the vehicle itself
  2. Safety derived from rider equipment
  3. Safety derived from rider training

The idea to incorporate ABS on all BMW models comes three years ahead of the implication of making ABS compulsory on all motorcycles sold across Europe starting from 2016. Apart from the safety upgrades, the BMW line-up for 2013 also gets significant updates like heated grips and on-board computer for the Touring Package on the F800R while a host of new colour options on its new 2013 model range.
