The MG eZS also scores brownie points in terms of practicality. It boasts 448 litres of boot space to provide additional storage for outdoor items.

Under the bonnet, the electric SUV will be powered by a water-cooled 44.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that is fed to a front-mounted electric motor which delivers 143PS of power and 353Nm of torque. These figures propel the compact SUV from 0-100kmph in 8.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 140kmph. The 44.5 kWh battery gives the eZS a range of upto 262km on a single charge on city-highway combined WTLP range. The city range alone goes up to 371km. The battery pack can be charged up to 80 per cent in 40 minutes when plugged into a 50 kW fast charger. A 7kW wall-box charger will extend the charging time to 6 hours. MG UK will offer a 7-year / 80,000-mile warranty on its SUV as well as its lithium-iron battery.

Aside from that, the MG eZS will get a rotary drive selector. It will also get up to 3 regenerative braking modes and Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes just like the Hyundai Kona Electric.

The electric SUV will come with MG Pilot driver assistance AI that consists of various features like Advanced Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control. The higher-end Exclusive variant gets Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert as additional features. Safety features for the SUV include front and side airbags, ABS, EBD, seatbelt reminder, and ESP.

The MG eZS SUV will go on sale in the UK in September with a price tag of 28,495 pounds (Rs 24.49 lakh) for the lower-spec Excite and 30,495 pounds (Rs26.21 lakh) for the higher-end Exclusive variant. However, MG is providing a great offer for its first 1,000 customers, who stand to get a discounted price of 21,495 pounds (Rs 18.49 lakh) and 23,495 pounds (Rs20.20 lakh) on the two variants respectively.

The eZS will be launched in India on December 2019 and is expected to have a price tag of Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom pan India). Once launched it will go up against the recently launched Hyundai Kona Electric in the Indian market.
