With customer focus growing on safety in cars built in India, Maruti Suzuki has now decided to offer the Swift and Dzire models with dual airbags and ABS as optional equipment. For those familiar with the Maruti Suzuki variant range, you get L, V and Z variants in the lineup with ‘Xi’ suffixed for petrol and ‘Di’ for diesel trims. The top end variants already are offered with ABS and airbags, so the L and V variants now get the options pack at a marginal price of Rs 20,000 extra.
Mr. R S Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, MSIL, said, “By offering driver and co-driver airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS) across all variants of Swift and DZire, we want to further strengthen their popularity among customers.”
The Swift and Dzire are also getting old in the current market scenario. The Swift has been on sale for over a decade and the Dzire has been around for about eight years. This move could also be seen as efforts made to maintain demand for these popular siblings. Even now though, the Duo amount to about 17,000 unit sales for Maruti Suzuki every month.
