BMW Motorrad has launched the R 1250 R and R 1250 RT in India at Rs 15.95 lakh and 22.5 lakh (ex-showroom pan India) respectively. The R 1250 R commands a premium of Rs 95,000 over the standard R 1200 R while the R 1250 RT Pro costs Rs 1.95 lakh more than the R 1200 RT Pro variant. The duo takes the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route and are now available for bookings at all BMW Motorrad dealerships across the country.
As the name suggests, the two new bikes are powered by the same 1254cc boxer twin which is also found on the R 1250 GS motorcycles. In these two models, the motor belts out 136PS at 7750rpm and 143Nm at 6250rpm -- that’s 11PS and 18Nm more than the previous 1200 model. With the addition of ShiftCam technology, BMW’s lingo for variable valve timing, the engine now offers better grunt throughout the rev range.
On the features front, the R 1250 R gets a large 6.5-inch colour TFT instrument console with BMW’s Connectivity feature. This allows riders to connect their smartphone to the console via Bluetooth and the BMW app. You can also receive calls and control music via the switchgear. As for the BMW R 1250 RT, it gets a large 5.7-inch colour TFT screen flanked by an analogue speedometer and rev counter.

BMW Motorrad has launched the all-new BMW R 1250 R and the all-new BMW R 1250 RT in India today. The all-new BMW R 1250 R and the all-new BMW R 1250 RT will be available as completely built-up units (CBU) and can be booked at BMW Motorrad dealerships from today onwards.

The all-new BMW R 1250 R is available a timeless paint finish – Black Storm metallic. An elegant and stylish paintwork is also available in Style Exclusive, Pollux metallic matt. The all-new R 1250 RT is available in Option 719 Blueplanet metallic / Option 719 Sparkling Storm metallic, an extraordinary high-end paintwork with strong metallic effect as well as a hand-lining.
The all-new BMW R 1250 R conveys its enhanced character as a dynamic naked bike for effortless riding pleasure by means of altered body elements. For a classic look, Black storm metallic emphasizes the pure look of the motorcycle. Many details in black complement the harmonious overall look of the roadster. Front-wheel cover, front spoiler, tank side trim and rear side panels receive the subtle body finish. A touch of high-end flair is provided by new model inscriptions as well as the black seat with embossment on the passenger seat. In Style Exclusive, the new R 1250 R highlights the all-round qualities of a roadster for active riding. All trim panel components are painted in Pollux metallic matt.

The elaborate hand-drawn lines likewise reflect the very highest level of craftsmanship. Every stroke of the brush is applied manually – so every motorcycle is a unique specimen. Option 719 seat in brown is available on BMW R 1250 RT.
Both motorcycles are fitted with front spoiler that provides a touch of distinction. The golden brake calipers, radiator cover and stainless steel tank cover emphasize a unique appearance.
Both models feature the powerful 2-cylinder in-line Boxer engine with a displacement of 1254cc, producing a powerful output of 100 kW (136 hp) at 7,750 rpm, generating a maximum torque of 143 Nm at 6,250 rpm. The presence of a new power unit is demonstrated by the means of newly designed cylinder head covers bearing the inscription ‘ShiftCam’ as well as the pipe ducting of the new exhaust manifold system.
The variable camshaft control BMW ShiftCam is an entirely new technology which provides supreme rideability along with an additional increase in power across the entire engine speed range, reduced emission and fuel consumption levels, optimised running smoothness and refinement.

Numerous features such as Seat Heating, Central locking system, Tyre pressure control and Anti-theft alarm system add to the riding enjoyment and safety. Distinctive features – Dynamic ESA, preparation for GPS unit, cruise control and Keyless Ride further add to the boxer feeling all day long. Riding modes Pro, Headlight Pro, Daytime Riding Light and chrome-plated exhaust pipe lend a sporting character to the motorcycle, both visually and functionally.
The all-new BMW R 1250 R now has the equipment feature Connectivity as standard including a 6.5 inch full-colour TFT screen. Integrating operation via the BMW Motorrad multi-controller, it gives the rider quick access to vehicle and connectivity functions. Phone and media functions can be used without having to install an app. The rider can easily make telephone calls and enjoy listening to music with Bluetooth connection. Audio system with Radio Software provides the ultimate touring experience. In addition, the BMW Motorrad Connected app offers everyday-suitable and practice-oriented arrow navigation directly via the TFT display. The BMW R 1250 RT is fitted with a large 5.7 inch TFT colour screen. This is supplemented with an analogue speedometer and rev counter.
