Hundreds of women rode their bikes to the Ace Café in Londonto set the two new world records for female bikers – largest all-female biker meet and largest all-female biker parade.
The former record for the largest female biker meet was set in Australia last year, when 221 women on 190 motorcycles met. The event in London saw 251 female riders riding together from Ace Café on 251 motorcycles, setting another world record.
The goal of the event is to create awareness among motorcycle gear manufacturers, according to organizers Sherrie Wolf and Nimisha Patel, since they both have had difficulty finding proper gear on several occasions. Only a few manufacturers of motorcycle gear have female ranges with the motorcycling world largely dominated by male riders and racers.
The lack of gear designed specifically for women sparked the need to raise awareness among manufacturers and the world record meet became a reality. With the kind of response the meet has generated, the organizers are now considering staging similar meetings in other places around the UK.
