The Honda CR-V has been launched in India, seven months after it was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. Priced from Rs 28.15 lakh to Rs 32.75 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, the CR-V is now bigger, has more equipment on offer, is powered by a diesel engine and is also offered as a 7-seater (only with the diesel engine) for the first time in its model history.
The Honda CR-V is available in three variants, differentiated not by trim, but by powertrains. It can be had either as a petrol 2WD, diesel 2WD or diesel AWD. Prices (ex-showroom all-India) are as follows:
Honda CR-V Petrol 2WD: Rs 28.15 lakh
Honda CR-V Diesel 2WD: Rs 30.65 lakh
Honda CR-V Diesel AWD: Rs 32.75 lakh
The highlight of the new CR-V is, of course, the new diesel engine that resides beneath its hood. This is a new-for-India 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged unit developing 120PS of maximum power and 300Nm of peak torque. This is paired with a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission in both the 2WD (claimed mileage of 19.5kmpl) and the AWD variant (18.3kmpl)
The petrol motor is only available with a CVT and a 2WD drivetrain. The motor is a familiar 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated unit developing 154PS of maximum power and 189Nm of peak torque. Claimed fuel efficiency for the petrol CR-V petrol stands at 14.4kmpl.
