If you think Jaguars were fast on land, then you probably haven't seen them on water
An Electric Jag Just Broke A World Record On Water

No, it's not the I-Pace. Remember the long-lost name of Williams from the world of Formula1? Ok, maybe not that long, or lost. But the point is, that name makes things go fast. And when it comes to electric technology, that name has partnered with Jaguar in Formula E to provide "technical assistance in the running of the car". This combination has used it Formula E tech to make an electric boat go fast, 142.6kmph fast, world record-shattering fast.

Jaguar Vector Racing's V20E battery-powered boat broke the earlier record of 123.59kmph, which was set in 2008. The electric boat was designed and constructed by Jaguar Vector in partnership with Williams Advanced Engineering and was being piloted by Jaguar Vector's co-founder and technical director, Peter Dredge. The speed might not sound like a very big number at first, but it's water we are talking about. The conventionally powered record stands at 511kmph and was set back in 1978. Just FYI, the fastest land speed record is 1,227.9kmph and that of an electric vehicle is 549.4kmph.

Vector will attempt to crack more world and national records over the next 18 months. But this is no piece of cake. The internet tells us that two attempts to break the water speed record have been fatal. Still, there are some teams working towards that aim. As far as electric power is considered, they might take some time to match up to the conventionally powered ones in outright speed.
