The RS660 has gone from concept to reality in just 12 months!
  • It will be powered by a parallel-twin motor.
  • This faired motorcycle could feature active aerodynamics.
  • Likely to come to India.
  • Aprilia has just confirmed that we will be seeing the production-ready RS660 at this year’s EICMA with a teaser image on its social media accounts. Although not much has been revealed, the silhouette of the motorcycle remains similar to the concept showcased last year.

The RS660 was seen sans camouflage at a special Aprilia owners trackday event in Italy just a couple of weeks ago. It was seen running massive winglets on either side, which suggests that Aprilia has finally cracked the active aerodynamics formula. If the technology actually makes it to showrooms, it will be the world’s first production motorcycle to feature something like this.

Although exact engine specs are still scarce, we do know that the RS660 is powered by a parallel-twin engine derived from the RSV4’s 1074cc V4 motor. Expect it to make north of 100PS at least.

There is much to be excited about the RS660 for us Indians as this is the motorcycle that Aprilia wants to pitch as a global product in developed as well as developing markets, including ours. Whenever parent company Piaggio decides to bring the RS660 to India, expect it to carry a price tag of at least Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
