With the launch of the SXR 160 in December 2020, Aprilia entered the maxi-scooter realm in the Indian two-wheeler market. However, at 1.27 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the scooter is on the pricier side. Now, the Italian brand is gearing up to launch the smaller, more affordable SXR 125 soon. For the ones waiting eagerly, pre-bookings have already commenced for a token amount of Rs 5,000 on Aprilia’s official website.
Aprilia’s new steed will offer a single-cylinder air-cooled 124.45cc motor that makes 9.52PS of power and 9.2Nm of torque. Its design mirrors that of the SXR 160 and the features list includes LED headlights with DRLs, a digital instrument console and a USB charging port.
The SXR 125 is suspended on conventional telescopic forks and a monoshock. Braking hardware comprises a 220mm front disc and a 140mm rear disc. At 7-litres, its fuel tank capacity is also similar to that of the SXR 160.
Aprilia will offer the SXR 125 in four colours: Blue, black, white and red. The final pricing is yet to be disclosed but we expect the baby SXR to retail for around Rs 1 lakh. While that’s Rs 27,000 less than the SXR 160, the new Aprilia SXR 125 will still be notably more expensive than its arch-rival, the Suzuki Burgman Street.
