Travel back to EICMA 2019 and you’d remember Aprilia teasing its mid-displacement ADV veiled with bushes, shrubs, and all sorts of foliage. That was the Tuono 660 concept -- a bike pegged to carry on Aprilia’s adventure touring legacy in a new avatar. Having said that, we knew very little about the Tuareg 660 apart from the fact that it would be based on the same 660cc platform as the Tuono and RS 660. The bike has been spied before but looks closer to production in the newest spy shots. First off is the design, it looks rugged with off-road-purposed body panels and hardware to help you explore uncharted territories. The Tuareg features a half fairing with a short windscreen, a single projector headlamp (possibly LED), and a full-digital console.
It’ll be powered by the same 660cc parallel-twin engine seen on the Tuono and RS 660, however, in a different state of tune. Expect the Tuareg to dish out upwards of 95PS with loads of bottom and mid-range performance at your disposal.
Looks like Aprilia hasn’t cheaped out on hardware either. You get long-travel suspension, laced wheels with what looks like a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear tubeless tyres, and an upswept exhaust. Needless to say, the Tureg will be reined in with electronic rider aids. So expect to see ride modes, traction control, switchable ABS, and engine brake control.

All things considered, the bike will not hit the global market anytime before early-2022. Thankfully, the Tuareg could make its way to India as well since Aprilia has already made its intentions clear of offering the Tuono and RS 660 in India. Once here, it will compete with bikes such as the BS6 Kawasaki Versys 650 and Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT.
