At the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, Ashok Leyland showcased its version of the Nissan Evalia MPV. A year and a half later, Ashok Leyland is all set to introduce the rebadged Evalia as the Stile. [Update (12/07/2013): Ashok Leyland Stile MPV unveiled]
From the outside, the MPV remains the same as its Nissan counterpart barring a few styling tweaks such as a new grille, headlamps, new wheels, a green and blue sticker job along the sides and of course Ashok Leyland badges instead of the Nissan ones.
Under the hood the Ashok Leyland Stile will continue to be powered by the same 1.5 litre dCi diesel engine that is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and develops 85PS of power and 200Nm of torque. However, it is likely that Ashok Leyland will also be introducing the Stile with a petrol engine as well, details of which are not known at the moment. The petrol powered Stile will be more affordable than its diesel sibling. But going by the fact that the Stile is a family/taxi oriented vehicle, Ashok Leyland will be equipping the petrol powered stile with a CNG kit for economical commuting.
The Ashok Leyland Stile is expected to be priced below the Evalia and will come with three row seating. Luggage space will be limited on models equipped with CNG tanks. In terms of equipment, the entry-level Stile may be stripped out compared to the base model of the Evalia that comes equipped with a stereo, power windows, air conditioning etc. On the price front, the Stile is likely to compete with the entry-level variants of the Chevrolet Tavera and Mahindra Xylo, the petrol variants are likely to be even more affordable.
