Back in July 2016 Aston Martin and Red Bull unveiled the AM-RB 001 hypercar, which looked like something straight out of a futuristic Spielberg movie. To everyone’s delight, it was later confirmed that the production model of the AM-RB 001 would indeed look a lot like the showcased prototype. As one could assume, the holy merger of one of the fastest Formula 1 teams and makers of some of the most astonishing looking cars had given birth to a hypercar which could outperform almost all cars on the planet, and look ridiculously good while doing it. That is, if you could catch a glimpse of it flying by.
All of the 150 models of the AM-RB 001 which will be made for the roads have already been sold, but customers will have to wait till 2019 for the deliveries to commence. Apart from these 150 models, there will also be 25 track-only specials, taking the total to just 175 models worldwide. Although technical details of the car have not been made public, we know that it will have a new, mid-mounted, naturally aspirated, high-revving V12 engine, which will produce close to 1010PS of power. Also, since the construction is out of lightweight carbon fibre, the car will weigh close to the power output, giving it a near-perfect 1:1 power-to-weight ratio. The first ever AM-RB 001 hypercar is expected to run for the first time in late 2017.
Aston Martin President and CEO, Dr Andy Palmer said: “By bringing together the talents of Red Bull Racing and Aston Martin, AM-RB 001 is destined to become the defining hypercar of this decade and a hugely desirable investment for collectors and enthusiasts.” As for the price of this marvel, Aston Martin has not made it public. Though the prices are sealed, we expect one of these cars to easily cost £2-£3 million (Rs 30 crore). With all that we know about the AM-RB 001, it is seeming to be an apt rival to the LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and the Porsche 918 Spyder.
