It essentially gets almost all the souped-up bits from the Vantage safety car, aside from the FIA instrumentation

  • 25PS more grunt from a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine at 535PS; 8-speed automatic transmission tuned for quicker response.

  • Suspension, steering, and dampers altered for better cornering.

  • New front splitter, front dive planes, underbody turning vanes, and a new rear wing help generate an additional 200kg of downforce.

  • Offered in the same British racing green body shade as the safety car, but without the lime green accents.

  • Gets larger 21-inch wheels with bespoke 21-inch Pirelli tyres.

  • Deliveries to commence in May 2021.

Earlier this month, Aston Martin unveiled the Vantage safety car that would share safety car duties with the Mercedes-AMG GT R in the 2021 Formula One World Championship season. Well, the carmaker has now made that car available for your personal ride with the Vantage F1 Edition. Barring the FIA-spec instrumentation, the Vantage F1 Edition gets all the bells and whistles from the safety car it is based on.

The biggest upgrade is under the hood of course. Its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine now makes 25PS more power, at 535PS. Torque figures remain the same at 685Nm. Even its 8-speed automatic transmission has been tuned to reduce shift times for better directness, precision, and control.

Aside from a power buff, Aston Martin has also worked on the Vantage’s chassis with modifications to the suspension, steering, and dampers for better cornering prowess. Even the wheels have moved up a size from 20-inch to 21-inch units, with bespoke 21-inch Pirelli tyres. As for aero gains, a new front splitter, front dive planes, underbody turning vanes, and a new rear wing helps generate an additional 200kg of downforce at top speed.

As is the case with the safety car and its Formula One racing team, the Vantage F1 Edition gets the iconic British racing green body shade. It can also be availed in Jet Black and Lunar White. But neither of the three body shades come with any lime green accents. Instead, you get a dark grey racing graphic. Inside, you’re treated to bespoke black leather and Alcantara upholstery, with the option of Lime Green, Obsidian Black, Wolf Grey or Spicy Red contrast stripe and stitching.

The Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition retails at GBP 142,000 (Rs 1.42 crore), with deliveries set to commence by May 2021. All in all, a nice upgrade to the Vantage thanks to it being prepped for safety car duties in the pinnacle of the motorsports arena.
